During the great heresy, Roboute Guilliman created the Codex: Astartes, a collection of documents dictating how a space marine chapter should be organized. Rogal Dorn the primarch of the Imperial Fists, did not want his legion chopped into chapters. The Space Wolves and the Salamanders backed Dorn on this, and some chapters on the Ultramarines side backed Guilliman. (I can't remember which ones so bear with me.) Both sides were about to fight when Dorn relented. He agreed to create two succesors, the Crimson Fists and the Black Templars. And thus, the Black Templars were born. |
